Hello Readers,
Yesterday you may have seen an email from me asking you to join Notes, a new feature on Substack. Substack encouraged creators to tell our readers about it and encourage participation. I joined Notes thinking there was no harm. Well, was I wrong. My readers shared that the anouncement by Substack is confusing (and also asks for $).
Sorry, it’s new and I think everyone is confused. From what little I understand, it’s sort of like Substack snacks, something to nibble on in between issues. It does not take the place of The Bob newsletter. It’s free and just for fun (I think they are trying to do like a Twitter or at least say they are constantly changing and ahead of the curve.).
Regarding asking for $, I am sorry about that, too. Substack encourages everyone to donate or subscribe to the newsletters (becasue they get a cut and that’s their whole income). I didn’t know that a pop-up window asking to subscribe would show on the Notes announcement and that is last Notes announcement I will be emailing. That said, everyone is welcome to join Notes for themselves and write and you are welcome to donate––thank you to the many who have.
The Bob is free.
There will be a longer deluxe paid version starting in June for those who donate or subscribe. This I am doing for creatives in the business who want more inside-baseball stuff and advice or students who have been requesting more instruction, or just anyone who wants more stuff. For those paid subscribers, they will be receiving the newsletter twice a month. Just disregard this if getting more me is the last thing you need in your life––you will continue receiving the regular The Bob monthly.
Substack sets the minimum at $50 for an annual subscription or $5 monthly. My workaround for this minmum is I can give a 25% discount coupon. If you subscribe please send me your mailing address so I can send you a thank you gift (Snowmanexpert@gmail.com). Or if you have a comment or question. I always am here to help regarding questions about publishing.
Best, Bob
