Elvis… I wrote a joke that Dave used on the Late Show, early 90s: Lisa-Marie Presley married Michael Jackson.

If Elvis was dead, he’d be turning over in his grave.

That's good.

He would indeed…

In writing class I'd often have my students do some automatic writing and then have them wad up their work and throw it in the trash. It was surprisingly traumatic for some of them. I wish I'd taken one of your classes, Bob, but I'm pretty sure you're glad I didn't.

I consider myself fair and tolerate but I would have thrown your sorry ass out of my class immediately to set an example to the others as to a]who is boss.

Happy New Year! And Happy Heavenly birthday to Elvis!! Loved the note sent to Outsider Tart bookshop about your book. That’s what your posts do too — they arrive at the perfect moment and bring us all joy when we need some comfort. Enjoyed your interview at The Book Cellar. Here’s the link in case anyone missed it in your newsletter: https://youtu.be/JYekdPJEzZE?si=Jrt-9CGzty4f384M

I felt sadness in your snowman book…. Well, that would be natural, bc they melt. But it made me as sad as when my first proper snowman -when I was seven- didn’t make it even thru a month. 😢☃️

Miriam, you are very astute to say that. The themes in the book include mortality and revisiting our collective lost childhood. Of course, there is then the reminder that the snowman is the poster boy, a la the duck-billed platypus, for climate change. whichever way you twist it or turn it, things are not ending well. I hope that is balanced with some of the funny cartoons and joyous photos.
