My favorite comment of Mike's concerned the tension that was present in your original cartoon. Among the elements of the trite slogan, the Son of God and the mess in the red tie, as well as the yawning chasm in front of him, is a situation that tingles with flavor every time I look at it. The AI version is just crap, and thievery to boot.
Bob, thanks for quoting the essay the theft of your work spurred -- I hope it makes people think twice about "remixing" cartoonists' work...but I'm afraid it won't. Empowered by AI, I'm sure they think of your cartoon simply as the raw clay from which they created their masterpiece. They are the Main Character, you see. :-) PS -- I am happy to run form-bending material, and think Bystander readers are nimble enough to enjoy it. Ponder.
